Competition Eligibility and Rules
Eligibility of persons
- Team size - Teams can be of any size, but are typically composed of three to five people.
- USyd Component - At least one Competitor in each Team must be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at Sydney University in the year of entry.
- Entering in more than one team - A Competitor may be a member of multiple teams.
Eligibility of business
- Type of business - Business ideas that have already received external funding such as venture capital or bank loans are ineligible. This does not include government grants.
- Originality - The business idea submitted by teams must originate from one or more of the teams members
- Intellectual Property of Third Parties - The competition is open to teams that may rely upon IP owned by third parties, such as patented technology developed by companies or Universities. It is not necessary at the time of entry to have negotiated licenses or other agreements to use these ideas.
